Amity Boppin's Story

Amity Boppin's Story

by

L.E. LaBarge

Amity held a Christmas stocking and sat next to her mom. “I’m tired and I smell oranges,” Amity said. Mom screamed and the house erupted into chaos. Amity’s unconscious with a gruesome arched back and uncontrollable body movements. “Call rescue and get an ambulance!”
Amity awakes in the hospital with no memory of this event but must face the unknown side effects of her new disease, Epilepsy. As time passes, Amity is now the girl with Epilepsy who’s asked, “How are you feeling?” or worse, ridiculed or ignored. “I’d rather not be a freak; I just want to be normal,” Amity says. But is there such a thing? Amity finds the courage to battle through these situations. Amity realizes that since she cannot change her condition, she must embrace it.
A coming-of-age novel for anyone who has felt like an outsider. Amity’s story will uplift and inspire young readers. Each character has their own story to tell, and all struggle with a problem or condition they cannot change.
"A perfect book for teachers to assign to students to teach about empathy, managing feelings and self-confidence." - Reader 1

"It's a great series idea with a necessary message that different can be normal." - Reader 3
