Off-Limits Neighbor

I should stay away from my sweet neighbor, but I just can’t help myself.

I’m trying to turn my life around after a four-year stint in prison. It’s hard, but I figure I just gotta keep my head down and work.

Except my cute little neighbor keeps talking to me, and trying to get to know me, and treating me like I’m not dangerous and I’ve never seen the inside of a prison. She’s way too sweet to be hanging around an ex-con like me. It throws me off every time, so I come off sounding like an idiot in her presence.

When her past comes back to haunt her, she says I’m the only one she trusts to protect her.

Doesn’t she know I’m no good, that I’ve done plenty of horrible things too?

But it turns out I can’t say no to those big brown eyes.
