The world has already fallen.
Birds carried the infection that shattered families and burned nations. Survivors clung to crumbling havens — a farmhouse, a hotel — but safety never lasted.

Now, Lewis, his sons, and the fierce survivor Elinor are driven south, their only hope lying in the seaside resort of Butlins in Bognor Regis. But the fences and gates hold more than just protection. Inside, two hundred children, led by the sharp-witted Google and the reluctant “Queen Charlotte,” struggle to build a kingdom out of broken amusements and fading childhood dreams.

Yet the dead are never far. From twisted creatures and raging Big’uns to horrors no one could have imagined, the “resort” may prove more dangerous than the wasteland outside.

The OutBreak Resort is the third installment in Lee David Congerton’s acclaimed OutBreak Series, following Of Mice and Monsters and The OutBreak Hotel. Equal parts darkly funny, chilling, and heartfelt, it asks one question above all:
