The Wolf picks up after Ageless. Lauren Cortez, having survived her transformation has now found her footing in her new life. She is part of the Circle, a community of “living immortal vampires” who protect and guide those like her.

One of Lauren’s responsibilities in the Circle is to locate others who are “transitioning” (becoming vampires) and bring them under the Circle’s shelter before their own bloodlust causes them or others harm.

The plot intensifies when Lauren investigates a series of savage murders in northern Maine. These aren’t just regular serial killings — the victims are lone hikers on remote trails, and the brutality suggests something beyond random killings.
