Match Daze

Match Daze

by

Chrissie Harrison

He needs to score.
She needs to pull off a great save.
Or it’s game over.

Cattingley Town FC (“The Cats”) are a minor league football club in peril. Their results often hinge on the pitch-side antics of their mascot, Snowy. If Tom, the sweet but laid-back guy behind the costume, is happy, the team wins. This season, his love life is dour, and The Cats are heading for relegation. Added to that, the football ground is being eyed up for demolition.

When fate brings feisty physiotherapist Laura to the club, Tom is instantly smitten. However, not only is she already dating the striker from rival club Myston Rovers (“The Mice”), she’s out of his league. But if he can win her over, Snowy will regain his mojo, and maybe The Cats will be safe.

Quickly, Laura wonders whether this team of no-hopers are worth her trouble. She only took this job out of a sense of community spirit… but there’s something likeable about the guy inside the ridiculous cat costume.

Can he win her heart, regain his cheerleading mojo, and help save the team from relegation… or worse?

Come to the game. Cheer for Tom and Laura… and The Cats.

Match Daze, the second book from Chrissie Harrison, is a non-spicy soccer romcom, and a very British underdog story.
Expect a strong FMC, a MMC who trips over his own feet to woo her, a misfit team of amateurs, a jealous boyfriend, a flirty best friend, and an Elvis impersonator.

About the Author

Chrissie Harrison

I’m an incurable romantic, and a sucker for great humour. I’ve been writing for many years, and all the stories contain love, humour, or both – I simply can’t keep these elements out of my work.

I have a soft spot for stories with strong women and nerdy or hapless guys – and sometimes pathos or bittersweet vibes. I like the connection between my protagonists to be more than physical; a way for them to bond and help solve each other’s problems. I’m also keen to shine a light on mental health issues, especially anxiety and neurodiversity, as these are close to my heart. My novels are dual POV stories, sweet rather than spicy, and often put a twist on genre staples whilst being centred on relatable relationships and situations.

I’m inspired by the big and small screen as well as books, and have a soft spot for Richard Curtis’ romcoms, timeless TV comedy like The Good Life and Blackadder, less well-known feelgood films and romances (Always, Forget Paris, Roxanne), and newer, brilliantly observed or scripted shows (Colin From Accounts, Dinosaur). Books which make me laugh include Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, The Rosie Project, Cat Lady, and The Hating Game.

Outside of writing, I enjoy photography, great scenery, a nice peaceful train ride, delicious coffee and cake, and catching up with old friends.
