Refusing to Fall

I’ve been in love with my boss for five years, and it’s killing me. He’s a great boss, always considerate and kind...and he sees me as nothing more than a secretary.

I can’t keep watching him go out on dates with other women, only to come in the next day and tell me about them. If I want a family with someone who loves me back, I have to break this cycle.

So I quit. And somehow that makes it all worse

Every word out of his mouth is about keeping me as his secretary: raising my pay, my benefits, whatever.

But I could swear his eyes are filled with a new heat.
