The Other Side of Wild
by
Lindsey Saenz
When you hear about deathbed confessions, you think of life advice, expressions of love, or heartfelt apologies. That wasn’t the case for me. My father used his last breath to tell me I’d never make it in my field of work. How could I be enough for anyone when I wasn’t enough for him? I should quit while I’m ahead, he said.
His words lit the torch to be the best Sports Journalist I could be. To make it to the top would mean I proved him wrong on this side of the grave. When my boss offers me the opportunity of a lifetime, I jump in with both feet.
I enlist the help of The Tampa Bay Hawks Hockey team, who I’m covering this season, to help me pull off the event my future depends on.
Finding a group of people who accept me as I am in the process wasn’t in the plans; neither was falling for the man with a pure heart, kind smile, and demons that rival my own.
When push comes to shove, can we pull this off, or will we all drown?
